Just as a newborn baby craves its mother’s milk, we human beings crave to be loved. Proverbs 19:22a puts it this way, What a person desires is unfailing love. Unlike human love that often fails, God’s love is unfailing. And the good news is that no matter who we are, where we have been or what we have done, God loves us . . . whether we feel like it or not. His love is poured out on us all. 

  God Himself IS love and, in addition to unfailing, His love is marvelous, perfect, great, and it endures forever. It is also unconditional; it’s not dependent on what we do or don’t do.  

  Writing about God’s love, the apostle John wrote, This is love: not that we loved God, but that he loved us and sent his Son as an atoning sacrifice for our sins (1 John 4:10). God’s love is sacrificial too.

  In this world it’s easy to look for love in all the wrong places. But once we experience the real thing i.e. the love of God, that all changes. For we will have found what we have unknowingly been searching for all along. And we will know that other types of love (the love of family, friends and more) all pale in comparison with this deep and unfathomable kind of love. 

   So today, May your roots go down deep into the soil of God’s marvelous love; and may you be able to feel and understand, as all God’s children should, how long, how wide, how deep, and how high his love really is; and to experience this love for yourselves, though it is so great that you will never see the end of it or fully know or understand it. (Ephesians 3:17b-19a). 

  God loves you! God loves you! God loves you! Even if you don’t feel like He does.
